Last week, former Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho signed for Leicester City in a £25million deal, having struggled for game-time since Pep Guardiola’s appointment last summer.
But the Nigerian international has already demonstrated his netting prowess in the Premier League, netting twelve times at just 20 years of age, and somewhat unsurprisingly, the Citizens have reportedly insisted upon a £50million buy-back clause in the deal that has taken him to the King Power Stadium.
Whether City eventually choose to activate it will likely depend on the levels Iheanacho’s goalscoring exploits reach in the coming years and whether he emerges as one of the most dependable strikers in the division.
Accordingly, we put that exact question to City supporters last week, asking them to predict whether the club will exercise their £50million option at some point within the next five years. Although the response to our poll was relatively split, the majority – 55% – think Iheanacho will eventually return to the Etihad Stadium.
