Dragons hot-shot Mullin, who netted 47 goals for the club last season as they were promoted into the Football League, suffered a punctured lung when figuring in a friendly against Manchester United during the Welsh side’s summer tour of the United States.

He has been eased back from that injury, with a first start of the 2023-24 campaign taken in last time out against Grimsby. Mullin is still working his way towards full match sharpness, but his presence in Phil Parkinson’s plans is being welcomed by playing and coaching staff.

Palmer, who found the target on 18 occasions last term, has told of having Mullin by his side once more: "It is good to have my Scouse mate back! We have scored plenty of goals this season already but he is a player we will always miss and it is good to be playing with my partner in crime."
