As reported by The Scottish Sun, Rangers have fired ahead with European registration for a duo not yet announced as signed by the club.
What’s the story?
Rangers now know the teams they must beat if they are to progress to the 3rd Round of UEFA Europa League qualifying this summer. The first test for the Light Blues is a tie against Luxembourg side Progres Niederkorn and if they get past them they’ll face either AEL Limassol of Cyprus or St Joseph’s of Gibralter in the 2nd Qualifying Round.
Having already made a number of signings this summer, it appears two more are all but certain to join up with Rangers after Pedro Caixinha made sure they would be registered for the Progres Niederkorn match.
The Scottish Sun say both Eduardo Herrera and Carlos Pena have both been included in the squad list which had to be submitted by Monday’s deadline.
There’s room too for one more ‘wildcard’ that may be registered up to 24 hours before the first leg against the team from Luxembourg which is due to be played next Thursday.
Paperwork has prevent the Mexican duo from being announced officially by the club, according to the report, but it appears they are hugely confident that they will be Rangers players sooner rather than later and it’s a huge boost for supporters who will be hoping to see them in the first competitive match of the season.
