Kiko Casilla’s racism charge has been an ongoing issue for some time now.
The goalkeeper was charged way back in November, but we’re still yet to hear about what will happen to him.
Although, all the signs are pointing towards the Spaniard being found guilty – both Phil Hay and Graham Smyth have predicted that verdict for the 33-year-old, and if he is punished the minimum sanction he’ll receive is a six-game ban.
However, that suspension could be for as many as 12 games, and if he is sidelined for that long it could have a huge knock-on effect for Leeds’ summer transfer window.

In fact, it could cost United £5m.
To be fair, Leeds may have already wanted to spend that money on making Illan Meslier’s loan move a permanent one, but according to recent reports, their option to buy will become an obligation if he appears in more than ten matches before the end of the season.
If Casilla is banned for that number of games, then Leeds will have a couple of options.
They either bite the bullet and stick Meslier in for the whole time and outlay £5m on the teenager, or they rotate between him and Elia Caprile in order to circumvent paying Lorient the hefty transfer fee.
Fortunately, they’ll get a small chance to assess whether or not the Frenchman is worth that in the first few games after Casilla’s potential ban, but that doesn’t mean that the £5m outlay could still backfire.
Ten games is a small sample size to judge any player on, and there’s every chance that the adrenaline of making your first league appearances for a club sees Meslier overperform during that period, before eventually dropping off.
Leeds’ FFP situation means £5m is quite a lot of money, and they need to tread very carefully on this one.
In other news, Leeds’ stance on Andrea Radrizzani’s online behaviour has been revealed.
